On January 24th, Canton FFA held its annual trophy auction to sell sponsorship of awards that are going to be given out at the local show on February 5th. There were exactly 39 trophy sponsorships sold at the auction with the addition of 9 pies, 5 cakes, 2 brownies, and other random desserts. They also sold baskets, wreaths, hats, and a fishing trip. 

At the beginning of the auction, all of the swine sponsorships were sold. Canton Service Center bought Grand Champion Purebred Gilt and the Clark family-sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Gilt. Wheeler Brothers sponsored Grand Champion Commercial Gilt, and Farmers and Merchants sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Commercial Gilt. JC Weber sponsored Supreme Gilt, and Garrett Show Feeds sponsored Reserve Supreme Gilt. Acre Insurance/Storage sponsored Grand Champion Barrow, and Greg and Bonnie Edwards sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Barrow. The Clark family-sponsored Junior Swine Showman, Chain Ranch sponsored Intermediate Swine Showmanship, and Webb Aviation sponsored Senior Swine Showmanship. 

After the swine awards were sold they took a break and switched to desserts before continuing on to the sheep awards. They began with Wheeler Brothers sponsoring the Grand Champion Purebred Ewe, and Rother Brothers sponsoring Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Ewe. Ronald Pope sponsored Grand Champion Commercial Ewe, Western Equipment sponsored Supreme Ewe, and Western Shelter / Paul Heath sponsored Reserve Supreme Ewe. Acre Insurance / Storage sponsored Grand Champion Market Lamb, and Livingston Equipment sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb. Darren Scott and Garrett Nippert sponsored the Junior Sheep Showmanship, Western Shelter / Paul Heath sponsored the Intermediate Sheep Showmanship, and Pinnacle Ag Insurance sponsored the Senior Sheep Showmanship. 

Then after the sheep awards were shown, they moved on to the Goat awards. The Schoonmaker family-sponsored Grand Champion Doe Goat and Wheeler Brothers sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Doe Goat. The Clark Family-sponsored Junior Goat Showmanship, Western Equipment sponsored Intermediate Goat Showmanship, and Pinnacle Ag Insurance sponsored Senior Sheep Showmanship. 

After another short break to sell baskets and desserts they were ready to sell the beef awards. Larry Rauh sponsored Grand Champion Purebred Heifer, and Wheeler Brothers sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Heifer. Webb Farms sponsored Grand Champion Commercial Heifer, and KWR Trucking sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Commercial Heifer. Community State Bank sponsored Supreme Heifer, and Webb Farms sponsored Reserve Supreme Heifer. Community State Bank sponsored Grand Champion Prospect Steer, Evans Auctions sponsored Reserve Grand Champion Prospect Steer, and Wheeler Brothers sponsored Grand Champion Market Steer. Western Shelter / Paul Heath sponsored Junior Beef Showmanship, ad Western Equipment sponsored both Intermediate Beef Showmanship and Senior Beef Showmanship. Finally, Premier Exhibitor was sponsored by Lane Heath before the conclusion of the trophy auction.

In total, the trophy auction raised $18, 905 for Canton’s FFA chapter.
