The 2022 Oscars will forever be known for the surprising unscripted moment that occurred between Will Smith and Chris Rock. It was not something that everyone was expecting to happen.

Chris Rock was on stage when he decided to be comical and make a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. “Jada, I love you I can’t wait for GI Jane 2,” said Rock causing the actress to roll her eyes.

Will Smith realized how upsetting that comment made his wife feel, so he decided to take matters into his own hands. He walked up to Rock, and slapped him leaving Rock stunned.

After the unexpected sight, the awards still continued to announce their 2022 Academy Awards winners, Jessica Chastain as the best actress and Will Smith as the best actor.
