This year the Student Council at Canton high School has a new advisor, Mr. Schieffer, and he has ideas for the near future. To start off the new year for Student Council, this year’s officers are: Luke Foster, President; Annjolie Martinez, Vice President; Hannah Evans, Secretary; Lea Vowell, Treasurer; Alexa Delgado, Public Relations.

For this school year, the student council is excited to bring positivity and enthusiasm through school activities like assemblies, dances, and homecoming festivities. They are constantly looking for new ideas for dress up days to have as many people involved as possible. They also have plans for having dances this year, but have not decided on dates or themes yet.

Schieffer took the opportunity to be STUCO advisor this year. He has been an active advisor in the OASC (Oklahoma Association of Student Council) for 6 years. He enjoys being STUCO advisor because it gives him the opportunity to demonstrate to the students that their interests can be diverse as they want them to be. Another thing he also enjoys about Student Council is watching the students grow individually and practice on their own leadership skills.
