Vaping Causes Health Risks in Teens

In a comparison between vaping and smoking, most high school students would say vaping is a better alternative than smoking,, but students don’t know the health risk vaping can cause them..

The substance vapes use looks like a liquid  and contains harmful chemicals when inhaled. Nicotine, which is highly addictive to teens, is found in the substance. There are metals, like heavy metals and cadmium, that can be found in vape liquid. There are also harmful chemicals that cause lung cancer and diseases like bronchitis. Not only can it do irreversible damage to the lungs, but it can damage developing adolescent brains.

It takes about 25 years for a brain to fully develop, but this can vary between genders. The part of the brain that isn’t fully developed and is responsible for decision making and impulse control is the prefrontal cortex.

Vaping is a form of addiction that impacts the ability to focus. Vaping can also cause a short attention span, changes of mood behavior, and lowering of impulse control.

Students who are active with their physical fitness are also affected by vaping which is also known to cause the lower of endurance, poor physical performance, increase of injury and longer recovery, less muscular strength and flexibility, disturbed sleeping patterns, and shortness of breath. A vape causes coughing and chest pains or tightness in the chest to anyone.
