Let’s Make Empanadas

My mom has a recipe for Empanadas. She got this from my grandmother, her mom. I never got to meet my grandmother because she passed away when my mom was 16 years old. Every time we make it my mother gets emotional because she remembers making them with her mom.

Empanadas are a kind of pastry, and they are kind of like a marmalade filled donut.

The ingredients needed are lard, all-purpose flour, 1 can of Bud Light beer, salt, marmalade, and a large bowl.

Mix 1⁄4 of a cup of lard with your hands for about five minutes. Then add 1 cup of flour and mix it together. Next, add a splash of the beer and a pinch of salt. Mix with your hands till it makes a doughy consistency.

Take a palm full of dough, roll it into a ball then flatten it out by working out between your palms. Put your marmalade or jam ,whichever flavor you want works, in the middle. After that, fold it in half and pinch the edges with a fork. Finally, pop it in the oven until golden brown.

Garnish with powdered sugar if desired, then get stuffing your face.
