Goats, Swine, and Cattle

Mr. Mitchell is the Ag teacher at Canton High school. He has taught at Canton for 2 years, as well as Merritt for 16 years, and Mangum for 14 and a half years. His hometown is Reed, Oklahoma. Mr. Mitchell graduated from Arnett of Hollis in 1978 and attended WSC and Cameron University. His degree in college is Agricultural Education.

Mitchell has two sons, Brandon and Michael, and he also has two grandkids named Baron and Merrick. Baron is six years old, and Merrick is three months old. He enjoys spending time with his grandkids. “We do whatever they want. They like to ride tractors and look at cows,” Mr. Mitchell, ag teacher, said.

Mr. Mitchell’s favorite part about showing livestock is the competition, the skills kids learn, and friendships the students make. “Meeting new people lets the kids know that there is more to life than what is just in a small area. It will expand their friendships in later life because we will meet people from all over the country,” Mr. Mitchell, said.

If Mr. Mitchell won the lottery he would by a few more cows and little more land. “Believe it or not I would continue teaching because I like it,” Mr. Mitchell, said.
