Pearl Harbor Rememberance Day

On December 7, the U.S. naval port Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese forces by air and sea.

The U.S. sailors were not ready for the attack and in result over 2,000 U.S. sailors and citizens were killed in the attack. The attack began at morning with the Imperial Japanese forces attacking air bases and naval ships.

During the attack, there were many forms of heroic action by many soldiers. After the attack, the result was four naval ships destroyed, 2,403 people dead and another 1,178 injured.

A day after the attack Congress declared war on Imperial Japan leading them into World War II.

On August 23, 1994, the United States declared December 7, a national holiday in memory of those that had died from the attack.
