One Point Championship

On January 4, 2018, the Canton Tigers played their first games of the year. The basketball teams loaded the bus to go to Medford for the Medford tournament.

The Lady Tigers played Shilder and had a blowout win. The final score was 63-10.

The Lady Tigers played Medford for the second game of the tournament. The game was close throughout the first half, but the Lady Tigers started the third quarter off with three layups. They would win this game and earn a spot in the championship game.

The Lady Tigers played Covington Douglas, who they had already beat earlier in the season. The game was close in the first quarter, the Lady Tigers were ahead by one point. Coach David Baldwin decided to pull the ball out and hold it for the remainder of the half.

When the Tigers went into the locker room at the half, the score was 15-14 in favor of the Tigers. When the Tigers came out of the locker room for the second half, they held the ball for the entire third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers began to work the ball and look for open shots.

They started pressing, but Covington-Douglas made a three to put them ahead by two points. Kaylee Hysell got fouled going in for a layup and shot free throws. She made one, which left the Tigers down by one. This would be the last points scored in the game. The Tigers lost to Covington-Douglas by one point. They received a runner-up in the Medford Tournament.
