Junior High Boys Lose to Seiling Wildcats in Dewey County Tournament

On January 8, the Canton Tigers Junior High boys team took part in the Dewey County Tournament. The Tigers first game was against the Seiling Wildcats who would be playing home and the Canton Tigers playing as the visitors. The Tigers were assisted by three freshmen: Cody Conrady, Brooks Martin, and Ethan Foster.

At the beginning of the game, the Tigers were able to make the jump, but the ball was stolen by the Wildcats who were able to make a layup off the steal. During the final minutes of the first quarter, Cody Conrady made a layup and was fouled by a Wildcat player and made the following shot.

During the second quarter, the Tigers were able to play better defense against the Wildcats and were able to make it down the court, but were unable to run their offensive plays and rebound.

After halftime, the Tigers started playing with all their power to catch up to the Wildcats. At the beginning of third quarter, Hudson Scott was able to make a steal and make the following layup, but the Tigers were unable to prevent the Wildcats from scoring.

At the beginning of the final quarter, the Tigers second team subbed in for the first team. The Tigers were able to make a few more points with Nathan Janda scoring two points and Luke Foster scoring three points in the final minutes of the game.

The final score was Seiling Wildcats 53 and Canton Tigers 14. Despite their loss, the Tigers will be ready for their next game against the Leedy JV on January 11.
