Canton Tigers Beaten By The Cherokee Chiefs

On February 1, the Canton Tigers played against the Cherokee Chiefs. Also, during both high school games the Canton community raised money for a family in need from Cherokee. The principal of Canton Elementary School presented the money to the Cherokee High School boys coach.

In the beginning of the game, the Cherokee Chiefs were able to start with the ball, winning the jump. The Tigers played great defense despite not having one of their starting players. However, the Tigers played their best getting the ball and trying to score on offense, but missed and were unable to stop a Chief player from scoring.

When the second quarter began, the Tigers started off with the ball. The Tigers ran their offense trying to score on the Chiefs’ defense. The Tigers were able to score three-pointers and jump shots. On defense the Tigers did their best, trying to not let the Chiefs score.

After halftime, the Chiefs started off the ball, and the Tigers started off in defense. The Tigers were trying to make the Chiefs turnover the ball. The Chiefs were not ready for the Tigers pressing, them and turned over the ball many times from throwing it out of bounds to not catching the ball.

During the final quarter, the Tigers started off with the ball trying to draw falls on the Chiefs biggest players. The Tigers, however, were successful in drawing fouls, but the fouls were not on the post players. On defense, player Cooper Evans was given a technical foul for intentionally shoving a Chief player. However, the Tigers did not let a technical foul stop them from playing against the Chiefs.

The final score of the game was Canton Tigers 35 and Cherokee Chiefs 51. Despite their loss, the Canton Tigers will be playing the Geary Bison on February 5th.
