On February 9, the Canton High School basketball teams will be heading to district playoffs at Seiling.

Both teams will be playing Fargo-Gage-Fort Supply.

The teams have been preparing for this game by spending time together to help with team bonding. They have spent many hours in the gym practicing their offensive and defensive plays. “We have been preparing all week for this game,” Claysen Scott, sophomore, said.

Both girls and boys watch film occasionally to get a good understanding of what the other team’s plays are. The scout team will run the other team’s plays for offense and defense during practice. This will help them know what plays the other team will be running during the game.

Coach Rich prepares a motivational quote every week for the boys to inspire them to work harder. His precept for this week was, “Your will to win has to be stronger than your self-doubts.”

Both teams have been correcting mistakes often made in the games to help prepare for the district game.

Coach Baldwin hopes the outcome of the game will be “to play hard and win if possible.”
