Lady Tigers Advance to Regionals

The Class A basketball playoffs began on Friday, February 9.  The Canton Lady Tigers took on the consolidated team Fargo-Gage-Fort Supply.  Starting for Canton were seniors Gabby Martin and KaLee Hysell, and juniors Roxey Linder, Haylee Nusz, and Jenny Delgado.

The Lady Tigers controlled the game from the tip-off.  Good defense from the Lady Tigers resulted in many steals and layups.  The score at halftime was Canton 35 and Fargo-Gage-Forty Supply 11.  The Lady Tigers shot three-pointers extremely well, making sixteen worth 48 points. The final score was 64-16 in favor of Canton.

The following night, February 10, the Lady Tigers were up against the back-to-back Class A state champions and the current number one ranked team in the state, the Seiling Lady Wildcats.  The Lady Tigers had a really rough start and quickly fell behind.  The score was similar to Friday night’s score, but unfortunately, the Lady Tigers were defeated 66-12, making them the district runners-up.

The Lady Tigers will play the Kremlin-Hillsdale Lady Broncos on Thursday, February 15 in their first Regional game at Seiling.  Kremlin-Hillsdale is coached by Canton’s former coach Trent Ritter.  The Lady Tigers have to win to keep advancing in the playoffs.
