Tigers Look to a Great Season

On Thursday, March 15, the junior high and high school track teams participated in their first track meets of the year.

The junior high team traveled to Fairview to compete. Madison Rauh placed 3rd in the 300-meter hurdles, Johnie Burton placed 3rd in the discus, and Hopelin Hood placed 3rd in the long jump.

“I jumped 12.8 feet and my best is 13.4. The pressure was on me.

There were class 4A schools there and I came out 3rd, ” Hopelin Hood, seventh-grader, said. “I threw the discus 99.5 feet. My best event in track and field is discus,” Johnie Burton, eighth-grader, said.

The high school team traveled to Cherokee to compete. LaShayla Green placed 3rd in the 400-meter dash and 1st in the 200-meter dash. The girls’ 800-meter relay team placed 3rd at Cherokee. Keely Green, Arianna Green, LaShayla Green, and Gabby Martin took part in the relay.

“I feel like we could do a little better next track meet because we didn’t do so good last track meet,” Nate Bates, sophomore, said.

“We worked our hardest, and came home 3rd in our heat,” Deonte Murray, junior, said.
