Breaking the Code

Mrs. Barney’s eighth-grade reading class participated in an escape room on Wednesday.

The classes were reviewing literary elements in the story All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury. Their goal was to get their main character, that is locked in a closet, out of the room.

The students were given six clues to help them figure out how to get their character out. The first clue was to figure out similes and metaphors. The second clue was also similes. In the third clue, they had to find symbolism in the story. The fourth clue was to find irony in the story. The fifth clue was to look for the plot of the story. The last clue was finding the theme of the story.

It was fun trying to unlock our character.
