History in the Making

On May, 3rd, and 4th, Canton’s junior high and high school History Day competitors traveled to the Oklahoma Historical Society to compete in State History Day. To qualify for state the competitors had to place third or higher at the district level.

Altogether there will be fourteen kids going to the national competition. The national competition will be held at the University of Maryland.

Beau Fuqua, Charlie Moldrup, Jenny Delgado, Roxy Linder, and Garrett Nippert won first in the high school group performance category. They also won the OHS Preservation award.

Erica Moldrup, Hunter Hood, Ashlyn Ruiz, and Alyssa Rutz won first in the junior high group performance category.  

Braxton Thompson, Kenzi Nix, and Kylie Nix placed second in the junior high group exhibit category. The group also won the OHS best exhibit design.

Kassidee Pope placed second in the junior high individual exhibit category.

Blair Dowell took first in the junior high individual historical paper category.

McKayla Howerton and Devon Reilly placed third in the junior high group website category.

Hanna Sullins, Cadence Pugh, and Hopelin Hood placed fourth in the junior high group exhibit.

Brianna Ross placed fourth in the high school individual exhibit category.
