Football Year End Review

Football+Year+End+Review

The focus of the Canton Tiger football team this year was not wins or losses, but rather to get better every game and compete. While the Tigers may have gone 2-8 over the course of the season, they got better with every snap and made every game count.

This season the football team did something that had not been done since 2009. They won the homecoming football game. “It felt pretty great winning the first homecoming game in ten years. I’m proud to be on this team,” Trevor Ross, sophomore, said.

This was also the first time since 2015 that the Tigers have won a game at home. Also this season was the first time in decades that the Tigers had no ineligible players over the course of the season. “I think that it (our season) will be remembered for a long time, because for the first time in over ten years no one was ineligible for the entire season. That helps a team to have dependable players,” Charlie Moldrup, senior, said.

While the Tiger football players may have not had the best record, they always fought and got better with every snap. This year the Tigers were better than last year’s team by over 100 points. Starting around game two this year Coach Brashears would say something along the lines of, “This year’s team would 45 last year’s team,” and the facts prove that.

While this season may not have gone exactly the way the boys wanted it to, there are definitely some positive things that happened. For the first time in years, the Tigers had no ineligible players, and also they only lost two seniors who got to play this season.
