The NFL said they would have Maroon 5 sing “Sweet Victory” at the Super Bowl halftime in honor of Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob Squarepants, but they played “Sicko Mode” instead. The NFL made a lot of people mad when they showed the intro to “Sweet Victory” and then switched songs. People have been flinging angry and disappointed comments all over Twitter because they lied to Spongebob fans. Over a million people signed a petition to play “Sweet Victory.” The NFL can’t say they are going to show something and not show it and expect to not get backlash.
