Canton Elementary Enjoys Colorful Reading

Hard work paid off for first through third graders of Canton Elementary School on Friday, February 8th. Mrs. Fuqua, principal of Canton elementary, stood in front of first through third graders in costume to read them A Bad Case Of Stripes.

When asked about Mrs. Fuqua reading to students, an excited Talon Vowell threw up an enthusiastic two thumbs up.

“My favorite part was when her mouth was the bed, and pictures were her eyes.” Talon Vowell, kindergarten, said.

A general consensus from the elementary was that the reading was silly and funny. The young scholars were rewarded with the extra colorful reading because they read 1100 books, when their goal was only to read 750. The extra reading may have something to do with the fact that Mrs. Fuqua vowed to kiss a goat if they read 1500 books. A general consensus from the elementary was that the reading was silly and funny.

The students have about 400 books left to read with four weeks to get it done if they want to see Mrs. Fuqua kiss a goat.

“The goal was to read 750 books, but they read 1100 and passed the (AR) tests in first through third grades. Their next goal is 1500 books read and if they do that I will kiss a goat,” Dora Fuqua, elementary principal, said.
