Choir Hosts Their First Spring Concert

On April 23, the jr. high and high school choir hosted a spring concert. Half of the program was made up of 80’s songs, the other half was a student showcase. Mrs. Clark plans to have more concerts next year, and even musicals.

The program started with “Can’t Fight This Feeling” with Garret Hough, Jadine Chervenka, and Brianna Ross as the soloists.

The next song was “Lean On Me.” There were two sets of duets, Kalissa Wile and Jayden Mosqueda, and Abby Smith and Zayda Sherwood.

The third song was “Somebody to Love.” There was a trio and a soloist. Jaylee Sleeper, Muriel Smith, and Abby Smith were the trio. Abby Smith was also the soloist.

The fourth song was “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The choir came up with choreography early in the semester to show that they can be a show choir. The soloists in the song were Garret Hough, filling in for Joseph Pullen, and Ally Nix.

The fifth, and final song was “Africa.” Before the song, they did “the rainstorm.” “The rainstorm” is the steps of a rainstorm made by the students.

The choir starts by rubbing their hands, making the sound of wind. Then they start to snap, making it sound like sprinkling. Next, they started to slowly slap their legs, sounding like a light rain. They then began to slap their legs harder, sounding like heavy rain. Finally, they jumped three times in their groups, mimicking thunder.

They immediately went into “Africa.” The duet was Zayda Sherwood and Garrett Hough. There was also a trio, Ally Nix, Brianna Ross, and Kenidi Humbargar.

For the student showcase, Rayden Taylor sang “The Proof of Your Love.” Giselle Sleeper sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Devon Reilly played the piano while Carlie Smith played the ukulele to the “Island Song.” Alicia Luna and Abby Smith sang “Lovely.” Zayda Sherwood and Carlie Smith sang “Boys Will Be Bugs.” Zayda Sherwood sang “Riptide.” Jadine Chervenka, Sienna Bates, and Lea Vowell sang “The Climb.” Ally Nix and Kalissa Wile sang “Away From You” for the closing.
