Touring Oklahoma Classes Visit Crossroad Wind Farm

On April 29 and 30, Mrs. Haub took turns taking her Touring Oklahoma classes to the Crossroad Wind Farm. The classes left at the beginning of their Touring Oklahoma class and returned before the next class started.

The students were informed about the different OG&E wind farms in Oklahoma, how a wind turbine works, and about what working in one is like.

“I learned how the rotors automatically turn so the wind hits it and that they provide for over 20,000 homes each month,” Brooks Martin, sophomore, said.

The students also learned about the safety protocol, and that they do practice drills to make sure that everyone is safe and everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency.
