Tigers Win At Media Monday

On Monday, November 4, the Canton Tiger Media staff traveled to the University of Oklahoma to attend the Oklahoma Scholastic Media (OSM) 104th Media Monday. Canton’s Tiger Media staff won 23 awards overall, including All-Oklahoman, which is the highest honor for a yearbook.

“Mr. Barney and I push these students all school year to turn out their best work. They get tired of it and they want to quit. Then, they win awards and beat students from much larger schools like Ada and Duncan, and they realize it was worth it. We are proud of these students and their hard work,” Meridith Barney, co-media advisor, said.

The Tiger Media staff also won highest honors, 2nd place for cover/first impression, Honorable Mention for theme development/design, and Honorable Mention for package/structure.

Brianna Ross won 1st place for folios, 2nd place for alternative copy, and honorable mention for student life story.

Caden Koehn won 1st place for Feature Presentation, 2nd place for student life spread, and 3rd place for headline writing.

Beau Fuqua won 1st for design, 2nd for alternative copy and 2nd for feature presentation.

Roxey Linder won third place for sports action photo, theme development and copy, and endsheets.
Kenidi Humbargar won 3rd for headline design.

Cody Conrady won honorable mention for photo illustration.

Braxton Thompson won 2nd place for academic story.

Humbargar and Ross won second place for academic spread.

This is the third year in a row for Tiger Media to win All-Oklahoman.
