CHS Honors the 2019 Basketball Homecoming Court

Friday, December 6, is basketball homecoming for the Canton Lady Tigers and Tigers. Coronation will be at 5:45 in the high school gym.

This year’s homecoming court has four boys and four girls.

Josh Edwards is the 18-year-old son of Greg and Bonnie Edwards. Josh has played football for three years, and basketball for three years. He has run track for four years. Josh has been in NHS, FCA, and FCCLA for one year and FFA for five years. Josh’s honors include Great Plains All-Conference player for two years, honorable mention underclassmen in football, and state track qualifier in long jump and the 200 meter. Josh’s future plan is to go make money. Josh says Mr. Mesis would make a good Santa because he has a beard.  Josh’s favorite Christmas song is “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”.

Claysen Scott is the 17-year-old son of Darren and April Scott. Claysen has played football for three years and basketball for four years. He has run track for four years. He has participated in FFA for five years, NHS for three years, and FCA for four years. His honors include Great Plains All-Conference player for two years, honorable mention offensive players for football,  and a state track qualifier in the 200 relay. Claysen’s future plans are to go to college and major in athletic training.

Andre Crawford is the 17-year-old son of Russell and Jaunita Crawford. Andre has played basketball for two years and football for one year. He has been in FFA for 2 years, track for two years and STUCO for one year. Andre’s honors include student of the month, athlete of the month and senior STUCO rep. Andre’s future plans are to attend college to study to be an athletic trainer. Andre thinks Mrs. Haub would make the best Santa because she is happy, caring and giving. Andre will miss seeing all of the uncultured swine every day after graduating high school.

Jared Cox is the son of Bryan and Crystal Cox. Jared has played basketball for four years, run track for four years, participated in the academic team for four years and NHS for three years. Jared is a National Merit semifinalist, NHS vice-president and president, academic team all-star and all-conference twice. He was student and athlete of the month. His favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone because it has Donald Trump in it. 

Sam McEachern is the 17-year-old daughter of Deanna McEachern. She has participated in FCA, FFA, and FCCLA for three years, and NHS for two years. She has played basketball and run track for two years. She has been football manager for one year. Her honors include student of the month, athlete of the month, and NHS STUCO rep. She plans to attend college to become a nurse. Her favorite Christmas song is “Feliz Navidad”.

Payton Lee is the 16-year-old daughter of Shane and Gypsy Lee.  Payton has played basketball for three years, she has participated in STUCO and Special Olympics for three years, FCCLA and NHS for two years, and newspaper and yearbook for one year. Her favorite Christmas movie is Elf. Payton thinks that her Papa Bill would be the best Santa because he is always jolly and friendly.

Arianna Green is the 16-year-old daughter of Christy and Tony Green. Arianna has played basketball, track, and cross country for three years. She has participated in Ag and STUCO for three years, Art Club for two years, NHS for two years, and Special Olympics for two years. She was a state qualifier in the 800 and 400 relay. Her greatest honor is that she is taller than Ariel. She has been Athlete of the Month, and Student of the Month. Arianna’s favorite Christmas movie is The Grinch

Taylor Dowell is the 17-year-old daughter of Bret and Ashley Dowell. Taylor has played basketball and track for 3 years, and cross country for one year. She has participated in FFA, Academic Team and STUCO for three years, and NHS for 2 years. Honors Taylor has received are Athlete of the Month, Student of the Month, and FFA reporter. Taylor’s favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story, but she hates Christmas music.

The flower girl is Kamri Stonehocker. Kamri is the five-year-old daughter of Kylin Prickett and Elias Stonehocker. Kamri’s favorite Christmas movie is The Grinch. She thinks her grandpa would make a great Santa because he has white hair.

The crown bearer is Nathan Clark. Nathan is the five year old son Alison and Aaron Clark. His favorite Christmas movie is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He thinks his papa, Max, would be a great Santa because he has the best hair.
