Hood named VYPE Preseason Player

On January 16, Hopelin Hood was announced as the Northwest Oklahoma preseason girls basketball player of the month for VYPE, a Northwest Oklahoma online magazine.
VYPE is an online magazine that recognizes young athletes all across the state.
“When I found out I won I was so excited, I could not believe it. I felt so honored to VYPES athlete of the month,” Hopelin Hood, sophomore, said.
Every month student-athletes from all over the state are nominated by their coaches. After that, each nominated student is put on a poll base system where fans vote online. The student with the most votes win.
“After hearing Hopelin had a chance to win, I voted for her as many times as the website would allow me to,” Kenzi Nix, sophomore, said.
After Hopelin Hood won she was interviewed by Derrik Smith who asked her about her life in basketball. He also asked about the keys to improving and overcoming hard times as an athlete.
“It was exciting because I knew I had a lot of people’s support and I was glad to see that people cared enough to vote for me,” Hopelin Hood, sophomore, said.
