Tigers Try Out For The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute
Giselle Sleeper, Brooks Martin, Brianna Ross, and Abby Smith tried out for The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Sunday, January 9, 2020.
The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute is a two week school that provides professional training to Oklahoma High School Students. All accepted students automatically get a full scholarship to the program. They have nature hikes, karaoke night, a talent show, and a dance that they can choose to participate in if they would like to.
“I tried out because I wanted to have more experience and get over my fear of an audition. I knew it would be scary, but doing it really makes me feel a lot better. It was a great experience,” Brianna Ross, junior, said.
Sleeper, Martin, Ross, and Smith tried out for The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Chorus. It is a group of 60 high school students from Oklahoma. Dr. Julie Yu is the director of the chorus and she is the Music and Co-Director of Choral Studies at Kansas State University. Her chorus has performed in Carnegie Hall, Hawaii, Washington DC, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, and Italy.
