Pros and Cons Discovered During Distance Learning

Students struggle to get their video to work during Google meet.

On September 3, 2020, Canton schools had their first taste of online learning. It was a stressful time for everybody, but the students and staff eventually came back to school. Students and teachers discovered both pros and cons of online learning.

One of the pros of distance learning is that teachers can record their lessons so that students can rewatch the lesson in case they do not know how to do their work. Also, some students can ask their parents for help if the teacher did not record their lesson. Furthermore, some kids who are bullied at school do not have to worry about being bullied on a Google meet. Another pro is that students do not have to get fully dressed for school.

Some cons to distance learning are that teachers can not see what students are doing behind their computer screens. The student could be cheating or texting a friend.  Some students also do not have any wifi at their house. That may prevent them from learning. Another con is that some students get too distracted from doing their work at their home, and instead play Fortnite and Madden.
