Melina Foster and Katrina Kopf prepare lunches. The lunches were for elementary.

Students’ moms helped out in the cafeteria because the lunchroom was shut down. They have prepared and served meals September 9-23.

Four moms volunteered to help, including Melina Foster, Katrina Kopf, and April Scott. Sherri Martin, a former worker in the cafeteria, came out of retirement to help.

“Well, I decided, knowing my kids, that everybody else’s kids should be in school. And in order for that to happen, we need to help back here. I didn’t want all these other kids to sacrifice not being in school,” Melina Foster, a volunteer mom, said.

The volunteers did not have concerns about contracting Covid-19.

The moms enjoyed helping. Without volunteers for the cafeteria, the school would have been shut down and everyone would have done distance learning.

“It’s been really fun,” said Foster.
