Rock Icon Dead at Age 65

This week the guitarist by the name of Eddie Van Halen passed away at the age of 65 from throat cancer. Eddie Van Halen was a Dutch-American lead guitarist and main songwriter of the band Van Halen.

Eddie Van Halen, whose full name was Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, and his brother Alex Van Halen began performing together as teens, but formed the core of what would later become Van Halen after meeting David Lee Roth, who would become the band’s lead singer.

“I feel like he influenced a lot of other rock players and he shaped the way music is made, kind of like Weezer’s album,”  Caden Koehn, senior, said.

Van Halen influenced guitar playing from the ‘80s until now. The band Van Halen was founded in 1972 and since then has released over a dozen albums.

He will definitely always be remembered.
