Sport Superstar: J.J. Ibarra

J.J. Ibarra stiff arms Ringwood Red Devil to score a touchdown.

Last week the junior high Canton Tigers faced off against the Ringwood Red Devils. The Tigers ended up winning the game and the junior high had many high points in the game. One player,  J.J. Ibarra, had some really good moments in the game. He was the lead scorer of the game.

“I scored two touchdowns, and I hit a kid hard. I had good kicks. I kicked three onsides,” J.J. Ibarra, eighth-grader, said.

Coach Rich is an assistant coach for the Junior High. He makes them practice every day at school and some of the junior high football team come to watch the high schooler practice after school.

“The Ringwood game was an important test for our team. We had several players who were unable (to play), so kids had to step up and play different positions. Our young men met the challenge and overcame adversity,” Coach Rich, junior high coach, said.

The junior high won the game and will play Sharon-Mutual next week.

“We have to continue to do what we do just a little better,” Coach Rich, junior high coach, said.
