Students Feelings Going Into Book Talks

Students at Canton Public School have book talks this week. Book talks are where students have to get up in front of their fellow students and talk about books that they got from the school library. The students do this for a grade in Mrs. and Mr. Barney’s English classes. Some of the students want to share their opinion about book talks.

“Book talks are awful and I am in no way prepared for them,” Brandon Day, sophomore, said.

Some people do not like to do book talks. Some students are too shy and nervous to stand up in front of their classmates and talk.

“Nervous, worried, ashamed, I had a kid book, Brandon looked sad when he did him, it was so depressing,” Hudsen Scott, sophomore, said.

Book talks can be a fun experience for some students, but some students absolutely hate them. Almost every student dislikes book talks. Students get really scared and nervous, but after they are finished talking about their book they are fine and are happy that it is over.

“I do not like book talks at all, but hopefully they will not be that bad this year,” Hanna Sullins, junior, said.
