The Girl Who Cried Covid

When I first experienced COVID-19 symptoms, I was at school on a Friday. It was a normal day when all of a sudden, I felt extremely tired. I didn’t think much of it because I was going home soon, as it was near the end of the day. I thought I was just tired from being at school all day.

As soon as I got home, I felt weird. My skin felt prickly and sore, and I had a headache. I had no idea what was wrong. I decided to take a shower to try to make myself feel better. It actually worked, except I was still tired. I got some rest, and I felt better.

That same night, I had a basketball game. I was feeling good, so I went and suited up. During the game, I started to feel tired again, but I was on the bench the whole time. I never actually played, but my sister, Taylor, did.

When we got home, Taylor said she felt tired too. My dad decided to get a bottle of bleach and have us smell it. I could faintly smell it, but Taylor couldn’t at all. We could both taste just fine, though. Not being able to smell convinced us we had covid. Then, we went to bed because we got home late.

In the morning, we both felt completely fine. My headache had gone away, and I no longer felt sore. We could both taste and smell. My mom did not have us get tested because we felt better. She thought we were just tired from the basketball game. Everything went back to normal. We went back to school on Monday, and everything was fine.

A couple of days later, I was in Ag class, when a teacher came in and said to gather my things. All at once, my whole class knew what was going on. I was being quarantined. I had no idea why I was being quarantined. I assumed it was because I didn’t feel well a couple of days before .

It turned out that my little brother had a fever. My mom had panicked and took him to the doctor to get tested, along with my dad. Both my brother and dad tested positive. I had to be quarantined for a week. It turns out Taylor and I had covid, but never got tested, and we infected my dad and brother and probably two basketball teams.
