Since it is the Halloween season and Halloween is only four days away, there are probably a lot of people who want to use an Ouija Board. Here are five things people should NOT do when using an ouija board.

  1. Do not be nonspecific.

Again, spirits like to trick people most of the time, so if a person isn’t specific about who they want to talk to then anyone could. Plus the spirits could be bad or good so it might not be someone’s great Aunt Peggy talking to them.

  1. Do not use an Ouija board in someone’s home.

Someone’s home is where they are most vulnerable and it would be easier to have a spirit or bad entity attach its energy to them. The more personal the place is to a person, the easier it gets. People should not be vulnerable while using an

Ouija board.

  1. Do not ask questions someone doesn’t want the answer to.

The one thing people should never do when talking to a spirit is to never ask questions they don’t want to know. For example, asking, “How am I going to die?” The spirit probably doesn’t know the answer but wants to trick them. Then, they are more likely to worry about that answer. Spirits don’t always know the answer to things so people shouldn’t look too far into their answers.

“I once asked how many spirits were in my house and it said eight and it scared me,” Jordan Dossey, freshman, said.

  1. Do not keep talking to a countdown spirit.

When someone is using the board, the planchette moves. The main thing people need to be worrying about is when the pentacle counts down from either the numbers or letters. That is going to let a spirit come through the board and into their house. Most of the time spirits can’t do a countdown unless they are a strong spirit, but also the ones who do in fact try to attempt the countdown are bad spirits. When someone is playing and they see the planchette countdown, they need to immediately stop the game and follow the protocols to end it.

  1. Do not play alone.

The last thing someone should not do is to absolutely never ever play by themself. They are more likely to attract bad spirits by themselves. A great example of what would happen if someone were to play by themself is Witchboard Linda basically goes through the stages of possession because of playing by herself.
