On Thursday, September 14th,  the Canton cross country team went to Hennessey for a successful day of competition. It was a very hot and humid day, but the runners kept hydrated and competed well.

Among the top finishers for Canton in the 5th/6th grade division (1-mile race) were Imiyah Littlejohn (1st), Alexus Meat (4th), Marci Kopf (8th), Stella Redhat (9th), Stevie Rogers (13th), Kasidee Pope (14th), Aubrey Cheney (15th), Jadine Chervenka (16th), and Blair Dowell (17th).  Others competing in that division were Alexa Delgado, Jacie Murray, Sariah Vargas, Aletheia McIntosh, Addisyn Smith, and Bree Simon.  These young ladies won first place in the elementary division.  Coach Dowell said, “Individual awards are nice, but winning as a team is  the ultimate award.”  

Ariel Green placed 21st in the junior high girls division ( 1.5-mile race).

The high school girls ran really well as a team in a 2-mile race, with LaShayla Green earning (4th), Arianna Green placing (13th) , and Taylor Dowell placed (23rd). Roxey Linder, Hanna Noble, and Keely Green also ran well.  Shy Cauble and Garrett Nippert ran in the high school boys division, completing the 3.1 mile race.

The team will travel to Cherokee this Saturday, September 16th for another competition.
