Junior High Basketball Comes to an End

On January 28 the junior high basketball team traveled to Geary to play their last game of the season.

At the beginning of the game Canton lost the jump, but came away with the ball. There was some confusion about which way each team was going. Geary made a layup in the first few minutes of the quarter. Kiana Whiteman gave the Tigers their first points of the game with a layup. The score at the end of the quarter was 2-4 in favor of the Geary Bison.

To start the second quarter, Ariel Green drove to the free-throw line and was fouled on a jump shot. She swished both free-throws. Aubrey Cheney grabbed a rebound, and got the put back. The Tigers held Geary to only two points in the whole second quarter. The score going into half time was 9-6 with the Tigers in the lead.

Aubrey Cheney was a major player in the third quarter. She swished a fifteen-footer, and also two free throws. Alice Whiteman showed off her shooting skills with a high arching shot from the corner. At the end of the quarter the Tigers were ahead by two with the score being 15-13.

When the fourth quarter started, Geary quickly made a layup to tie the game. Blair Dowell was fouled on a shot. She went one for two from the free-throw line. Kiana Whiteman was fouled, and made both her free throws to tie up the game once again. Ariel Green stole Geary’s inbound pass and was fouled. The Tigers got the ball back. Alice Whiteman pulled down a rebound and got the put back. She was fouled, but missed her free-throw. The score at the end of the game was the Tigers 21, and the Geary Bison 19.
