History Day Competes at Regionals

April 5th History Day students competed at the regional History Day competition. Canton had one paper, 3 individual exhibits, 3 individual exhibits, 7 group exhibits, 3 group documentaries, 3 group performances, 3 group websites, a paper, an individual performance, and an individual website.

In the junior group documentary, Tristan Mosqueda and Noah Bjork placed second. Liam Ross and Kyler Hayworth placed first. In the senior group documentary Hannah Evans and Luke Foster placed first.

In the junior group exhibit Ethan Cantrell, Lance Brown, and Emily Mceachren placed fourth. Brody Martin, Cole Bickerstaff, and Brock Hunt placed third. Bella Swartwood and Hayden Estrada placed second. Aubrey Geddes and Mackenzie Day placed first. In the senior group exhibits, David Evans and Maggie Clarck placed third.  Ana Trahan and Jacqlyn Grigsby placed second. Kylie Carrasco and Nadia Luna placed first.

In the junior group performance Kelby Day, Kenadi Weber, and Cloe Hooten placed third. Brooklyn Green, Harper Jones, Brooke Pope, and Allisyn Smith placed second. Miley Unruh, Madison Unruh, Irilynn Jones, Keller Jones, and Madison Unruh placed first. 

In the junior group, website Preston Foster and Bridger Hursh placed first. In the senior group website, Keelynn Schaumberg and Bree Simon placed second. Addisyn Smith, Karington Hawk, and Camden Lee placed first. 

In the junior individual documentary, Hanna Hoffman placed first. 

In the junior individual exhibit, Kinlee Hawk placed First.

In the senior individual exhibit, Amanda Schoonmaker placed first. 

In the senior historical paper, Blair Dowell placed first.

In senior individual performance, Noah Ross placed first.

In the senior individual website, Lea Vowell placed first.

Hannah Hoffman and Blair Dowell also received a Women in History award for their projects.

After being successful at regionals the History Day class will now continue to work on their projects and improve them for state competition. The top three places will advance to state and the fourth places are alternates.
