Grab A Book–You Will Be Glad You Did

Grab+A+Book--You+Will+Be+Glad+You+Did

I think books are underrated. I know that’s a big statement coming from a freshman, but it doesn’t make it any less true. I have been reading almost all my life, and I grew up in a home where people read for fun. I know, unbelievable, but if people sit down and actually try to appreciate the knowledge that they gain from reading a book, people might enjoy it more than they would like to admit.

There is literally a book for anyone, and I mean anyone. There are horror books like Stephen King’s Skeleton Crew to action and adventure books like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows by J.K Rowling.

The reason why I support reading so much is because it’s kind of like a coping mechanism, if that makes sense. Reading isolates everything else, almost teleporting people to  new worlds with new people with incredible powers.

Reading is like experiencing a whole new life without actually being there. I start reading and I can never stop. I get addicted to the story and I start to have compassion for the characters. To me reading is amazing. It’s everything packed into one book.

There are also weird and strange books like Geek Love by Katherine Dunn and Borne by Jeff Vandermeer. Let’s be honest, the book is always better than the movie. I have never met a reader that says the movie is better than the book, and lets hope it stays that way.
