On March 28th, students in Canton FFA went to compete at Northwest Interscholastic against other schools in welding, ag communications, and food science. Blair Dowell, Emma Hoffman, Kasidee Pope, Marci Kopf, Hayden Thompson, Jarret Sinclair, Will Blood, and Eric Evans all went to show what they know at the competition.

“Competitions like these are another activity that can give other students that don’t get to show animals something to do in ag and be apart of it,” Mrs. Wood, horticulture teacher, said.

Kopf, Pope, and Hoffman competed in the food science competition, and Dowell competed in the ag communication competition.  Thompson, Sinclair, Blood, and Evans competed in the welding competition. Canton got 4th out of 9 groups in food science, 6th out of 36 kids in ag communication, and 17th out of 19 groups in welding.

“My favorite part about going to the welding competition was probably hanging out and talking to people from other schools and the actual welding,” Will Blood, junior, said.

In the next few weeks, competitions like Northwest Interscholastic will be taking place and the Canton FFA is eager to jump on the opportunities at competing against other ag chapters.
