Students “Be Real” with a new app

A new app has hit the streets and students are loving it. BeReal is an app where it sends people a notification and they have two minutes to take a picture of what they are doing at that moment with no filters. Essentially, the point being is to “be real”.

How it works is that you take a picture with your back camera and at the same time it will take a picture with your front camera. Then, you just add a caption and post. If you are late then you cannot see your friends’ BeReal’s until you post yours.

People can react to your BeReal’s and you can react to theirs too. At the bottom of someone else’s BeReal there are little emojis and when you click one you take a picture of yourself mimicking the emoji. It saves the picture you took and you can use it or you can retake it.

“I think it’s a fun and interesting way to be realistic while on social media. It is also pretty cool seeing what my friends are up to at random times during the day.” Imiyah Littlejohn, sophomore, said.
