Kindergarten participates in Read Across America Week.

The Canton Elementary School is celebrating Read Across America Week February 27th to March 3rd. 

Monday is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, students wear red or blue. 

Tuesday is I’m Not Going To Get Up Today, students wear pajamas and bring a flashlight to read with.

Wednesday is Wacky Wednesday, students wear mixed up clothes.

Thursday is Cat in the Hat, students wear stripes or a crazy hat.

Friday is Happy Birthday Dr. Suess, students wear bright colors.

Throughout the week there are many activities planned for the elementary students.

Monday teachers will give out coloring sheets. Students will be coloring them for a competition. Judging and the announcement of the winners will be on Thursday. 

Tuesday the students will be reading with their flashlights and pictures will be posted on the elementary Facebook page.

Wednesday is DEAR Time from 2:30pm to 3:00pm with assigned classes. Pre-K is with the 5th grade, kindergarten is with 6th grade, 1st grade is with 3rd grade, and 2nd grade is with 4th grade.

Thursday the teachers will be doing directed drawings of a Dr. Suess characters with their classes.

Friday everyone will have cupcakes in class for Dr. Suess’s birthday.

There will also be characters hidden around the elementary building each morning. Students may look for them and will get a treat from the office if they find one. The elementary will also have a trivia game each afternoon.
