End of an Era

In her last cross country race representing Canton High School, Senior Lashayla Green competed at the State meet on Saturday, October 21st.  The meet was held at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  In the 2A girls race, there were 165 runners and Lashalya placed 56th overall. She was the 12th finishing Senior.

Coach Dowell said, “Watching LaShayla cross the finish line was a bittersweet moment.  I was very proud of her, but a little sad knowing it was her last race.  She has been a great Senior leader and has been competing for Canton for years.  It won’t be the same without her next year.”

LaShayla was listed in the program as an individual qualifier.  Former champions were also listed in the program.  Coach Dowell was a former Individual State Champion, winning the Class 2A race as a Freshman from Laverne in 1993.  Canton had the Individual State Champion in 1998 and 1999 with Beth Hooten winning back-to-back in Class A.
