The Heritage of the Art Club

Canton High School art club went to the Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, November 1st. They left at 8:10 that morning, and returned at 2:40 that afternoon.

Twenty-two art club members went along on the trip.The admission into the museum was paid for the students. The students were separated into two groups and lead by tour guides throughout the museum and exhibits.

The museum had two new limited time exhibits that the art club members saw called, The Life and Legacy: The Art of Jerome Tiger and the Cowboy Crossing. The Jerome Tiger was put in the museum to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jerome Tiger passing. The Cowboy Crossing showed a series of saddles, paintings, drawings, and sculptures.

“I liked looking at the Native American saddles from the Cowboy Crossing Exhibit,” Lea Vowell, 7th grade, said.
