Happy Birthday Oklahoma

On Thursday, November 16, the elementary school is celebrating statehood day with activities starting at 12:30.

Students will have seven stations to go through. The first station is branding where they will learn about branding, and how to read one. Students will also create their own brands.

The second station is the sheep and pig round-up. Using fly swatters, students will round up pigs, represented by pink balloons, and sheep, represented by white balloons.

They will then go to the third station which is “Find the Teepee”, where they will listen as seventh graders, Sienna Bates and Ariel Green perform Native American songs.  Frances Bates will discuss Native American customs.

Station four will be roping. Students will go to the playground to rope dummies with the help of freshmen Seth Bromlow and Jake Sinclair who will show them how to rope a steer.

At station five, students will take turns learning to use a washboard.

Students at station six will hear from a guest speaker, Vernon Gallo, about oil production in Oklahoma. Students will then watch an experiment that shows how oil is lifted from the earth.
