Welcome Back

Canton students participate in first day assembly

STUCO officers Caden Koehn, Beau Fuqua and Seth Bromlow use a giant slingshot to launch t-shirts into the stands.

Canton High School began the school year Thursday, August 9. The STUCO officers welcomed students back with the first day of school assembly.

The crowd came alive when Mrs. Barney announced a competition. Each class was represented by two students who were given a roll of toilet paper. They played a game of Porta Potty where one student wrapped the other student in toilet paper. The first team to use their whole roll was the winner. The seventh grade and sophomores pulled out a win for five spirit points.

After the game Mr. Barney took the mic and began a speech to inspire students. “Stand up. There you took the first step,” he said.

As Mr. Barney concluded his speech, students were called out class by class to begin class elections. The day continued with Mr. Hampton issuing chromebooks to all students.

The first day of school wasn’t all bad. It was great to catch up with old friends and teachers. “We missed you guys. You’re kind of like our family,” Mrs. Keefer, high school science teacher, said.
