Food Drive

Food+Drive

November 5-9 is Canton High School Red Ribbon Week. FCCLA is in charge of the food drive as a part of the national community service project “Share Our Strength.” Each day has a different reward if students bring two canned or boxed food items to Mrs. Haub before school starts. Vo Tech students can  bring it to Mrs. Haub when they return each day.

This year’s food drive idea was thought of by the FCCLA president Kalissa Wile and FCCLA secretary Alyssa Sutton as a part of their Promote and Publicize FCCLA Star Event.

On Monday, students who brought two food items get to wear a hat/hoodie all day.

Tuesday, if students bring two food items, they get five bonus points from one teacher of choice.

Students get a popsicle at lunch on Wednesday if they bring two items.

Thursday, students get ten bonus points from a different teacher of choice if they bring two food items.

On Friday, students who have brought two items everyday during the week and that day will get a slice of pizza and a pop during lunch.

The elementary is having a competition among grades to see which grade can bring the most food. There will be boxes in the elementary for donations.

“We need everyone to get involved to exceed our new goal of four hundred and fifteen pounds,” Sherrie Haub, FACS teacher, said.

The most needed items are canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruits, peanut butter, beans, rice, whole grain cereals, reduced fat whole grain crackers, powdered milk, and trans-fat free tortillas.
