Canton Students Place in Area Poster Contest
Students Win Conservation Poster Contest
Each year, the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts holds a poster contest. Canton is in the Blaine County Conservation District. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade can participate. This year Canton had three District winners: K.J. Smith, 2nd Grade Division, Blair Dowell, 7th Grade Division, and Hopelin Hood, 9th-grade division.
The posters went on to compete in the Area I Competition where Smith won 2nd place in her age division, Dowell was 2nd in her division, and Hood was the overall 9th-grade 1st place winner. Area I includes most of Northwestern Oklahoma and the panhandle. A luncheon was held at the High Plains Technology Center in Woodward on Friday, November 2nd. Area I winners were recognized with medals and plaques. Hood also received a $20 check for winning 1st place. The posters will now go on the state competition.
