Super Bowl That Should Not Be

This NFL season was a lot like an old wooden roller coaster with many sharp turns and jolts, and this wild ride has led to a very familiar picture. This picture being the fact that the New England Patriots are back in the Super Bowl. The Patriots will face a team from the other side of the country, the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams enter the Super Bowl following an impressive thirteen and three season led by quarterback Jared Goff. The Patriots enter following a somewhat rough season at eleven wins and five losses led by arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Tom Brady. This battle of expert quarterbacks should present a good contest for the viewing audience.

To enter the Super Bowl the Rams had to defeat the New Orleans Saints in a very controversial game. Late in the fourth quarter, a pass interference call that should have been called against Los Angeles was missed. This missed call would have gotten the Saints a first down and allow them to run most of the clock, if not all of it. What actually happened is the missed call only led to New Orleans getting three points. They then kicked off to the Rams. The Rams then proceeded to drive into field goal range and make a forty-eight yard field goal to tie the game. This field goal led to an overtime win for the Rams that sent them to the Super Bowl.

For the Patriots to secure their spot in Super Bowl LII they had to defeat a very impressive Kansas City Chiefs team. The game between the two was not nearly as controversial as their Super Bowl counterparts, but it was definitely exciting. Tom Brady had some late game antics that got the Patriots the lead, but all hope was not lost for Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes, who has had one spectacular season and is also the frontrunner for NFL MVP, proved why he is regarded so highly. He led the Chiefs down the field with just enough time to get a field goal off, and their kicker sent it right through the uprights from thirty-eight yards out. This field goal tied up the game sending it into overtime, and Tom Brady showed his haters why he is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.  Mr. Brady, the forty-one year old GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), did what he has been doing his whole NFL career. He came through in a clutch situation. The Patriots finished the game with a thirty-seven to thirty-one win.

The Super Bowl is set to kickoff on February 3rd at 5:30 P.M., and a victor will be crowned a couple hours later. This NFL season has been a wild ride leading to what should be a crazy Super Bowl. Will Tom Brady win his sixth ring, or will Jared Goff be receiving his first? Football fans will find this out in the so called “biggest game of the year”.
