Exhibitors Fare Well at NW District

Canton FFA traveled to Enid to compete in the Northwest District Junior Livestock Show. Students had entries in every species.

The first portion of the show was the sheep show. Hannah Hoffman placed fifth in her class with her Hamp ewe. Emma Hoffman also had a Hamp ewe and placed fifth in her class.

Amanda Schoonmaker showed Canton’s only goat. She placed ninth in her class with her doe.

Canton had eleven students competing in the beef show. Hudsen Scott won his class with his market steer. He was the only Canton showman who made the sale. Weston Waldrep won Reserve Grand Champion and Bronze Charolais. Claysen Scott won his class with his Chi heifer. He also won a showmanship award. Amanda Schoonmaker placed first in her class with her Maintainer, and also placed second in her class with her Red Angus. Schoonmaker also won a showmanship award. Taylor Dowell got first in her class with her Charolais, and third in her class with her Chi. Dowell was another showman chosen for the showmanship award. Levi Shaw placed seventh in his class with his commercial heifer. Jake Sinclair placed second in his class with his Maintainer, and third in his class with his shorthorn. Blair Dowell placed third in her class with her Commercial Heifer. Josh Edwards placed second in his class with his Charolais Composite. Wyatt Elder placed third in his class with his Charolais Composite.

The pig show took place on the final day of the show. Amanda Schoonmaker placed second in her class with her Berk. Daylon McNabb won second place in his class of Chesters. Brooke Taylor and Jacobi Withers both placed in their classes of Poland’s. Taylor took fourth place, and Withers won third. Blair Dowell got first in her class and went on to win Reserve Grand Champion Hereford.
