FCCLA Holds Penny War

September 16-19, FCCLA will be holding a penny war. All the funds raised will go to Pennies for Patients, an organization for patients with leukemia and lymphoma.

All grades in the Canton High School building will compete against each other. Each class will have a container, located in front of the office, to put their pennies in.

Every penny counts as one positive point, and silver coins or dollar bills count as negative points, which cause points to be taken away from that class. Classes can end with a negative amount of points.

Students are allowed to put dollars or silver coins in other class containers to sabotage other classes and help them win.

At the end of the day, September 19, all the pennies and other money will be counted. The class that has the most points will get chips and hotdogs for lunch one day the following week.

“I think it’s important to raise money to show support and sympathy we have towards cancer patients. They are going through a tough time, the least we can do is show we care,” Alicia Luna, junior, said.
