Mrs. Heath, the local history teacher,  will be doing a mini-research project in collaboration with the agriculture education classes. It’s for the local history students to ease into the History Day long term project.

The topic of the mini-research project is grain threshing. Students will be doing then and now research. The reason this topic was picked was because of the importance of grain threshing in Oklahoma.

“Last year the AG department added a history contest to the state fair. Mr. Mitchell and I decided this would make a nice cross-curricular activity for my humanities/ local history students and his students. […] With the current pandemic protocols, the fair will be much smaller, but be decided to continue with this activity.” Mrs. Heath, the local history teacher, said.

Students will write a 1-2 page essay, then decorate a black poster board, including a photo of grain threshing.

This year includes a social distancing option where students can submit an essay with a picture on Google Docs.
