Working Concession Is A Crock
I hate working in the concession stand. It is the worst job ever to be created for ‘senior dues’(senior dues are a scam btw). Every year the seniors have to work concession for credit to have prom and to graduate. The senior class owes the school money to have cool things like prom and graduation, so they have us work concession for credit. If we refuse to work concession, we have to pay our dues out of pocket. Senior dues is a scam to trick students into working hours on end because nobody in their right mind would work concession for fun. It’s a way to trick students into giving free labor without tripping any minor working laws.
I have social anxiety, so it’s hard for me to be around large groups of people because I never know what to say. I hate people my age, solely for the reason that they make me nervous. When teens come up to get snacks from the concession stand when I am working, I want to hide in the backroom until they leave.
The other reason I hate working concession is that people will look at you like you are a bug under their feet. I hate having to interact with people who look like they think you are the scum of the planet. It’s nerve-wracking and rage-inducing.
Working concessions is a waste of my valuable time and energy. I could be working for green paper/cotton slips that allow me to buy goods and services, but instead, I am working for credit that goes to NOTHING. I have to reschedule my day to squeeze in concession stand work time, and that blows.
Not only do I hate having to serve people, but I also hate having to work with people. I have nothing against my fellow classmates, but them trying to converse with me makes me want to curl up and die. They start a conversation, I reply, and then the conversation dies off. Did I say something? Do you regret speaking to me? I honestly don’t know and I really don’t care. Thanks for trying at least.
Another problem is that I constantly forget how to make the walking tacos. I always put too much meat and not enough lettuce. One time, I am almost positive that I didn’t give them cheese. To be fair on my part, the walking tacos made by anyone but me are 80% lettuce and 20% meat. I feel like the people who order the walking tacos are getting scammed. If they wanted a salad they would have ordered a salad.
Working the concession stand is a scam through and through. Everyone should avoid signing up and just overthrow the concession stand government. That would be hysterical, but a few people would go work and ruin everything.
