Tiger+Media+Wins+OSM+Awards

On Monday, April 26, Oklahoma Scholastic Media (OSM) state online newspaper awards were announced. The Tiger Media Staff won several awards and All-Oklahoma, which is the highest honor for an online publication. 

Tiger Media also won several individual awards for on-deadline and previously published work. On-deadline contests were topics chosen by OSM in different categories. Students had two weeks to write and produce their pieces.

Alexis Beckner won first place for her blog “Concession Stand is a Crock” in previously published work.  

Solomon Vargas won first place for his video into animation.

Kenzi Nix got third place for her video “Cooking With Kenzi” for previously published work.

Lea Vowell got an honorable mention for her feature “Not Everyone has a Dog” for previously published work.

“It made me really excited when I found out I won. I was like ‘Oh God I didn’t think I was going to win anything’, but then I won like 4 different awards. It was really cool and I was shocked,” Alexis Beckner, senior blogger, said 

Hanna Sullins won first place for her video package “CHS Prepares for Musica”l for on-deadline contest.

Kylie Carrasco won first place for her blog I was a Maniac for on-deadline contest.

“ I was really glad to win an award as a freshman because it was my first time doing newspaper and it was exciting, ” Kylie Carrasco, freshman reporter, said.

 Kenzi Nix got second place for her feature “How to Stay Motivated” for on-deadline contests.
